Wilson: No Accidental War

“Edmund Burke famously wrote about the ‘little platoons’ that make up a free society. But the overweening secular state wants to dissolve all those platoons and wants instead a host of atomistic individuals, the easier for them to manipulate. In contrast to this, strong fathers create a molecular society, with numerous bonds that are not under the control of any state agency whatsoever. A man should honor his wife’s loveliness in her fertility, and he must rejoice in the fact that his children will be greeted in this world by breasts full of grace, thinly disguised as milk. This is why the war on marriage and family is no accidental war. The concerted statist war on fathers is not being conducted in spasms of absentmindedness.”

– Douglas Wilson, Father Hunger (p. 77)
